Breaking Rad
August 12th, 2012 – By Rob

Faith and Begorrah, it’s a new comic! And I wrote it! Do my eyes and hands both deceive me? Have I been living out some bizarre Fight Club scenario where my other personality takes over when I think I’m sleeping to write a stupid webcomic? No! Of course not, that’s ridiculous. I was well aware of this all taking place and I’m actually not that surprised. Sorry, I’m not good at faking stuff. Let’s start over.

As expected, the comic is up as Eric told me it would be! I totally wrote this thing, and am as sorry as I can be for unleashing it on the internet. Basically, I felt that given a different light, the setup for the pinnacle of television drama that is Breaking Bad could have easily been wasted as a family comedy in the 90′s. Conflict and violence free! So this is basically my interpretation of that thought process. Holy fuck, what a great show though. I mean, that spoiler where the spoilers totally spoiled that spoil? Vince Gilligan is a living, breathing genius.

I cannot stress enough my love for the show: the acting, the dialogue, the constant nerd-baiting visual clues and masterful foreshadowing. I really don’t know that any show can or will meet it’s quality in my lifetime. What better way to show my love than to reduce it to it’s simpler elements and drown it in cheese?

Speaking of cheese, here’s a transition. We hope to be bringing you more Hatefarms in the nearer than usual future. Eric has some exciting things cooking in his many pots, such as the upcoming Mistress Missy Bondage Fighting flash game (http://hatefarm.com/images/demo.swf) and I’m trying to assemble some ingredients for a stew of my own. If you or somebody talented you know would potentially want to be my drawing monkey/collaborator for a new, much more SFW comic series, drop me a line in the comments or at hatefarmrob@gmail.com

But wait, there’s more! Gordon McAlpin over at Multiplex (multiplexcomic.com) took a stab at his own version of the last panel:

Which got us thinking… CONTEST TIME! Send in your versions of the last panel to either Eric or I (both of us if you’re feeling sassy!) and you could be the LUCKY WINNER of a FREE Mall Monkeys CD and a custom drawing of your very own choosing! Please have your entries submitted by 8/31/12 and we will announce the winner and runner-ups whenever we damn well please.

Eric and I were also kindly invited to appear on We Are The Geek, (http://wearethegeek.libsyn.com/) Uncle Yo’s weekly podcast dedicated to discussing “anime, comic books, movies and everything pop culture that geeks love!” I’m not sure that we’re part of any kind of culture that anybody loves, but it was fun to record and we hopefully aren’t too painful to listen to! (If you thought my blog posts were long-winded and aimless, you ain’t seen nothing yet.) Check out the site and our episode which will drop on August 20th.

Well, that’s all. Be average to each other. I’m off to a secluded location in the frozen North.

It’s the least I can do. Let me know what you plan on getting into next so I can start working on something funny to say about it.

Rob makes a comeback! I watched a bit of this show twice.

Did you make up that skateboard move? Because I’m noticing the surrounding parts of that panel suggest something else.

  8. I need to watch this show, if only for the meth-fueled skateboarding victories.

Whelp, I’m going to watch this now…. wait is it on Netflix? If it’s not, then I’m outta luck on legal fronts.

I just got into this show, and it’s already at near the top of my list of best TV shows ever. If it were more like this comic, it WOULD BE the best TV show ever.

I’m going to fax more of my ideas over to AMC and see if they respond but don’t get your hopes up. I used to send my brilliant Law and Order/Quantum Leap crossover ideas out to NBC the time and never got a response.

I would love to but I shamefully admit that I’ve only seen the first two episodes of that. Maybe if I catch up before it’s popularity dies down!

At first I thought a Mistress Missy Bondage Fisting flash game was in the works. Then I learned how to read and was actually surprised fisting was not part of it. This need to be fixed. Maybe include it as a (ha!) finisher? Also, reading has greatly incresed my quality of life, thank you Hatefarm!

  16. I love Hatefarm! And although I see no mention of it in the blog I’m pretty sure Eric did an amazing guest comic over at Mallville Rules? Right? Isn’t this his work? http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2xXn47/www.inkbot.net/mallville_rules_s5.html

No, no, no… This is what was awesome about the 90s! I’d totally watch this version of BB. It’s amazing how smoothly Jesse transitions from drug dealer to skateboarder. Maybe he moonlights.

Love your comic, guys. No, really… I love it. I’m thinking of proposing.

This show is so beautiful… the characters, the suspense, the directing and plot… where to I begin?

I hope you guys feel good about yourselves when you touch yourself at night for hitting on a sweet-ass parody of an epic show.

When I first found out what the hell was actually wrong with that annoying retarded kid, cerebral palsy, it was abbreviated ‘CP’. “Walt Jr has CP”. Less disturbing than his damn lisp, but still.
